Manchester United's Top-Four Hopes Dented by Liverpool Draw

Red Devils Miss Opportunity to Close Gap on Rivals

United Escape with a Point at Old Trafford

Manchester United's hopes of finishing in the top four this season took a further blow on Sunday afternoon as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Despite taking an early lead through Marcus Rashford, United were unable to maintain their advantage and allowed Liverpool to come back into the game. Cody Gakpo equalized for the visitors before Mohamed Salah gave them the lead in the second half.

United managed to salvage a point through a late goal from Jadon Sancho, but the result was ultimately a disappointing one for Erik ten Hag's side.

The draw leaves United six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with nine games remaining. With Arsenal and Manchester City also still in contention for the final Champions League spot, United's hopes of a top-four finish are now hanging by a thread.

Ten Hag will be concerned by his team's performance against Liverpool. United were second best for much of the game and were fortunate to escape with a draw.

With a crucial game against Arsenal coming up on Saturday, United need to improve their performances quickly if they are to have any chance of securing a top-four finish.
